His problem is that sometimes he feels as if he narrates the story in a disorderly way. The film begins very well: a young man named Henry is determined to save his father Will Turner, the character of Orlando Bloom, who was sentenced to the sea makes some movies.
Henry swears he’ll do whatever it takes to rescue him from that curse. Later we will meet Carina (Kaya Scodelario), who also has a similar desire. The story of the boy who seeks to rescue his parents is a classic in the fantasy world, but it continues to work because it is very emotional. It makes it very easy for us to be interested in Henry and Carina even though they are new characters. Nine years after the prologue Henry has grown up (played by Brenton Thwaites) and still continues his mission.
He believes that the only thing that can break Will Turner’s curse is Poseidon’s mythical trident, and the only person who can help him find him is his father’s old friend, Jack Sparrow. We will even see the reappearance of Captain Barbosa (Geoffrey Rush), who for some reason is also involved in the plot. All these stories manage to make the film stay in motion, but in turn also make it move away from its best side, the emotional side. Although it seems like there is too much going on in Dead Men Tell no Tales, it really is not. The story stays simple: everyone wants the trident and the bad guys also want to get their hands on Jack Sparrow. Sometimes it even feels as if they have forced the appearance of all these characters and their stories, and that part of the movie is only there to make time.
This is the bad side of the movie, but it also has many good things. Although the film sometimes feels confused, its action and its epic music never stop, which is wonderful. The presentation of Jack, for example, is one of the best moments in the whole saga. I do not want to give details and ruin the surprise, but I will mention some elements: there is an extremely funny execution, ghost sharks, Salazar’s ghost ship and a brutal combat scene with an epic ending. All that next to that song of Hans Zimmer that we know so much (Geoff Zanelli wrote the sound track of the film and not Zimmer, but its most emblematic song of Pirates of the Caribbean is present in this sequence).
